Good evening

Has anyone heard of a folding Seagull , possibly WW2 ? A question asked on a vintage outboard site

No never heard of such a beast. I think evinrude made a folding engine in the 60s.

The wooden piston question will be next, & my SD was used during Dunkirk!

I am intrigued. Did the Evinrude 'fold' to reduce the overall length, or was it possible to just quickly break it into two parts? I can see that there are advantages in doing so for storage or transport in a car or boat.
An Early Series Forty can quickly become two parts (intentionally or accidentally!) if the drive shaft tube is not correctly clamped into the crankcase!

The folding Seagull is perhaps a myth , the question was asked on another forum so just wondered if anyone had heard of it .
I'll add a few pics of a ' Sputnik ' , recently acquired off ebay . Comes with its own ( rather tatty ) rucksack . It has pouches for tools etc , unfortunately these are long gone
