Hi John,
Glad to know that you have acquired FV8416. I will add it the list/register.
We have been in contact previously ref your LS. You will have my e mail.
As Tam has said a photo or two will help us to know what you have got, so I can record the details. These pre 10000 serial number FV/FVP are the ones to go for in my opinion.
If you want any comments or advice in putting it back together, just ask away. There are plenty of people on this site who will help.
Thanks Tam. FV 8416 is quite a near relation of your FVP8369. Have you still got it?
I am off tomorrow morning for some boating activity and so might not be able to access this site for a few days. I am taking FV2821 to use on my dinghy. They are great little engines for dinghy work.

Will need a picture of the cylinder head, please.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Re: FV 8416
There was a chap called Waterbug on here that cast some, he was from New York State, try contacting him if Jeremy can't find you one.

Re: FV 8416
Yes, FV/FVP heads are in short supply. Although ones requiring welding are sometime available.
I am sure you are aware that the gearbox is upside down - it seems to be quite a common fault. So look inside, as the oil level/maintenance has probably beem amiss as well. Please note that for the FV models the engine shluld be laid down horizontally and the SAE 140 oil should be added until the gearbox is brim full. That was the original instruction from BS and is technically a sound procedure.
I would be interested in the date stamped on the flywheel. My notes accompanying the data list show where this is.
Cheers,
Jeremy

Re: FV 8416
Thanks for the info . I have been in touch with guy I got it from , he recovered it from a scrappy years ago but may still have the head .....
The block has also had some issues but was happy to find one almost complete . I noticed there is no logo on flywheel cover plate , is this original ?
cheers

FV/FVP heads are in short supply
Do we need to get some blanks made?

Re: FV 8416
Might be worth it. However machining will add some cost..
Re: FV 8416
That would be where most will have an issue. If I had access to CNC it would be easy to finish. It is not something that could be done with hand tool only! However machining will add some cost..

Re: FV 8416
It will need a custom jig to hold it For sure!
