A later Marston heads will fit an SD, later on the 102 went to studs fitted to the head rather than studs fitted to the crank case.
Earlier head on a later Seagull, pretty much.
Thanks for the info . On closer inspection I noticed the the opposite side has also been stamped - B 4594 , is this relevant ? I will need to post some pictures , poor thing is a bit sorry but still turns over
The very early 1942 ones had that B number. I call it a batch number but we don't know the relevance. May l pm you with a questionnaire so l can add your motor to the global SD register? TIA
Thanks for that , please send message I'll be happy to give any information I can . My initial aim was to save old and obscure motors from the scrap heap and hopefully restore some at a later date . I have 9 Seagulls here from little forty upwards and another 20 or so of ' other breeds ' all in various states . If anyone has anything odd for disposal please send a message , thanks .
Excellent. It has all the major parts intact. JM magneto with ali lid, steel tank with chrome bayonet cap, clutched gearbox. I like the replacement earlier cylinder. These are a tad longer than later longshaft seagulls hence replacement exhaust too short. Brass tube can be sourced. Does she have a tiller arm and throttle lever?
Thanks for the comments . What you see in the pictures is what I got although I do have some remnants of another early 102 which may help . Were these fitted with a steel tank as standard ?
