Thanks for the many replies and exploded views.

As mentioned in my original post, the Amal twin jet carb exploded view does not show a locknut whereas the 416 Amal does.

Thanks for the website reference Fleetingcontact, I think it answers the question that there should be a lock nut, It would still be nice to know if I'm right that it's 7/32 bsf .

As for ordering one from the UK I'm better off waiting till the postage for something more substantial makes it worthwhile. In the meantime the little electrical tie does the job.

Can you shut off the motor by closing the throttle lever with cable tie in place?

It is NOT a 7/32 bsf
A 7/32 bsf is 28tpi where as the adjuster is 40tpi
I think it is their own thread.
