I like the safety lanyard idea, if you get a really full pot it would stop the Seagull & hauler joining it on the seabed!

I'm particularly full of admiration for the G Cramp that seems to secure the thing to the boat!

In the past I have wondered if a similar device might be contrived for hauling in an anchor, an activity which leaves me breathless and trembling!

If the drive is being taken from the crankshaft threads, wouldn't there be a tendency for it to come unscrewed? Or have I misunderstood something?

I was thinking of something along those lines to run a permanent magnet motor and rectifier out of a wind turbine to charge my battery and run my 12v coolbox. I will mock it up later and post a pic.

Liam I have no technical information such as gear reduction. The photo is from a brochure that merely suggests that it's a good thing!

Probably a fancy flywheel nut with an inner & outer on the flexy drive, put the hauler in gear when the Seagull's out of gear, complicated!

Pto Generator idea. Just need some sort of hinge bracket so that i can lift up the generator to start the engine.

An excellent idea but nowhere strong enough for the amount of fish I catch.
My father left me an Allison 12cylinder aircraft engine from ww2 in going condition and as soon as I get everything into order and all the planning done I propose to install it in my surviving vessel..
I do realise that there is a host of problems to overcome including ballast available freeboard ,fuel tanks, hull improvements esp in the buoyancy area but I look forward to the day I can drop anchor in the deep blue, hurtle down some nets to whatever depth required then at the flick of a switch the nets will rocket upwards and there is my catch for the day.Maybe some for a later day as well.Reckon this Allison could provide me with enough grunt to fill up the onboard fish bins as quick as. at least quicker than this seagull assisted hauler.
I didn't get where I am today by not keeping my eyes open for opportunities .
Any sensible suggestions most welcome.

If you try and pull the nets up at the speed of light will it not just drag the boat deeper or under. That could be very funny to watch. If you ever do get it together please video it.

I can not see this as a reality.......

Everyone has one of these hanging on a nail for porting and polishing I would think. I have many different lengths and diams depending on what load Is applied. I use my post drill as a power source.

So looking at this attachment onna Gull all I can see is the nut wanting to unscrew when reactive load of hauler is applied.

Makes no sense to me at all at all.

Maybe the nut holds an adapter plate thingywhatnamedoodaddy that drives the flex shaft.

Also the engineer in me screams "WHERE IS THE CLUTCH" and "THE FREEKIN BRAKE" as once the rope is bedded to the winch sheave it is digital.

I can only see so much to go wrong with this design. Concept is novel though.
