Prop springs

I got sick of all my prop springs bending or just not having enough... That and the stainless steel ones are SO heavy to have a spare one in the toolbox.

So this is what I came up with!

I also thought if I was going to cut down on weight I may as well look at the tools in the box wile I was at it.

Maybe a new light weight spark plug could be the go as well.... Himmmm.

Would that spanner actually be strong enough to change a spark plug???
Mite be handy, its got more chance of floating when you drop it in than a steel one. And it wont rust.

Now that is just being silly, why on earth would I print money? I would be better printing a credit card that is linked to YOUR account, that way Im not using MY money!

Once I learn how to draw one it would be a good thing to do.

It is all a learning curve, Ive only had the printer for a month or so, and I am trying to teach myself how to model in fusion 360.

Definitely has a learning curve involved, not just the drawing, the printing can be a pain, I do it a different way, I make a 3D model of the whole thing and then split it into its components if I wish to print it, not that I have done any printing lately.

Now you need to print a whole motor

The space you have to print is not big enough and the smaller you go the less detail you will have, that's why the one I'm doing will be about 3ft tall.
I got stuck doing the flywheel, or should I say, I could get it right, so it's still a work in progress.

Very nice Keith, have you done a prop yet? Was it a hard thing to model?
I think that would be something to do some research on how to draw.

Props are not that difficult, a standard seagull prop is pretty basic to draw, a swept back prop not so easy, obviously you have to print with supports, which takes so much longer to print.
Also my reason for printing it in parts is that you can work on and paint the individual part much easier, plus I can use metal fittings to give it more strength.
The transom was a one piece print, and it was rubbish and the prop was the first try, I can do better.
I trick I use, I take a picture of the part and use it as a background picture on my 3D program, with makes it much easier to get the sizes right.

The problem with casters on the tool box is, when it gets rough the tool box may roll into the side of the boat and punch a hole in it!
I dont think it would take much to make a hole in 4mm ply!


What was the layer height and nozzle size that you have been using keith?
