MK 3 IGNITION DIAGRAM
Hello everyone,
Does anyone have a picture of a parts diagram of a wipac MK3 ignition system, I have a large amount of electronic ignition bits and want to see what i'm missing to make a complete one.
Thanks, Jacob

Re: MK 3 IGNITION DIAGRAM
That's a Wipac points ignition Tam, which is a Wipac Mk 2.
The Wipac Mk 3 is the white 2 piece CDI with the smooth flywheel.
The Wipac Mk 4 is the black 1 piece CDI with the single groove flywheel.
Flywheels are not interchangeable!

Can you put up some pics of what you've got ,and what you think might be missing. (my camera's busted at the moment otherwise i'd help with a pic or two)
Maybe one of us can point you in the right direction.

Re: MK 3 IGNITION DIAGRAM
Sorry this took a while. But i now have pics of what i have!
I have the baseplate and baseplate mounts on a scrap EFNR, just need to remove.
I'm pretty sure all i'm missing is the coil itself and the HT lead.
The question is, do i need the alternator thats currently inside the flywheel cover for what i'm using it for (modified model 75)?
If no, does anyone want to swap it for the MK 3 coil i need!?
Also, whats your opinion on the recoil stater? My ED has one and its quite handy but how likely is it for the rope to break!?
Cheers, Jacob

The alternator can be removed quite easily if you don't need it and just keep the top cover. 3 bolts and it's off.
Does your baseplate currently have the HT pick-up fitted to it?
I have a complete baseplate but i need to keep it for myself on another project.
The recoil generally is fairly robust. They can seize though, usually around the big coiled spring that makes the whole thing retract.Soaking in some wd40 or light oil helps overcome this. Ropes can be replaced,as can the coiled spring, a bit fiddly though. This is a job where you need to be patient with steady hands, but it can be done
