This one is a little strange.
Talking about an outboard in the film, Talented Mr Ripley, see the second picture.
The film is based on an adaptation of a 1955 novel, so is this steel tanked seagull from that era?

Not a Seagull novice I suspect judging by the description and the stand, saying what it has got, but strangely silent about what it hasn't got.
When I see the gear rod fitted wrong, I always wonder if its ever been in water and not just a bucket.

At that price I'd expect everything to be "Just so" but as you say Keith its not. Tank, inlet, tiller, throttle lever. Prop is wrong too I think. Is that a prewar prop?

Can't see well enough to say for sure, it could be a replacement later prop shaft bodged to fit, with washers above & below the spring, the prop looks rightish.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Prop redrilled with a deeper spring slot, fix.

Hmmm
Marmite springs to mind with this SD.
Plenty that's not right with it, still a lot going for it though, but at that price i feel it might linger for a while before it sells. Then again, we've been wrong about this sort of thing before. You never can tell exactly who's got eyes on it!

Over the past couple of years we must have picked holes in several of these older motors. Is this kind of "bodgery" becoming more and more common i wonder?

Still, a reasonably good effort i think all the same despite it not being entirely authentic.
Just my thoughts

I saw this, its ok, but probably too expensive, I have one anyway.
It was the prop that caught my eye, must have read the racing prop thread.

That's one way at least of getting more range out of a featherweight i suppose, even if it does look a bit odd.
It's missing a transom mount though, but at the buy it now price it seems a bit pricey to me for something that's had the silver paint treatment!
