Nudge's misses is going to be so pleased with you Keith, when he spends her house keeping money on a 3D printer to make patterns for his props.
It will be a good excuse for a trip to NZ for his funeral!
I hope they don't bury him till the week before Easter, we could use his boat & motor & do the Waikato run, as he won last year, even with your weight in the boat we should be one of the front runners!
Ive Always been looking at a 3d printer........
I dont think she would kill me, but have you got a spare bed at your place! If your talking about the red boat.... it's Hearse not mine. "Mine" in the blue boat.
How big is that crank case Keith? (across the bolt holes)

Yes, that's the plan, some parts I will remake, its still a matter of what works and looks right and what doesn't with this type of printing.
The most simple thing can be a right pain to print, plus one item can take twelve hours to print, I'm in no rush.
Its more about layers, the outer layer can be made up of one or more layers, for strength, then you have infill, from hollow to solid, depending on how far you go with the settings, you lose some quality and you gain some speed, you lose some strength you gain more speed.
But you don't know if its even going to print right until you have printed the object and if its wrong, there's nothing you can do about it, just start again.
What is the printer that you have Keith? And what was the approx price?
Jacob my young fella (11) has been helping me do a clean up and selling stuff on trade me to get some money.
He has done a simple course in 3d printing at school and got top marks

My 3D printer is just a cheap generic CPC clone one, around £300, But the cheaper you go, the more parts you WILL need to replace, as they will not last long at all, and then the upgrades start, Glass bed, extra cooling fans, upgraded heaters & censers and then fully enclose the printer, that's really a must.
You really have to use 3D design software, not sketch up.
