Posting your Seagull

Post by tjansen »

I had a good experience purchasing a minus 40 from California, I am
in Colorado USA. The owner made a wooden box, wrapped the motor in
saran wrap - to keep the foam off the metal and paint. Then wrapped some shredded paper around that and sprayed spray foam/ like insulating foam, it hardens like a brick and sticks to the wooden crate to anchor the motor.. Spraying around the head and foot mostly. He could have used a little more foam. It seemed he used maybe a half can . I would have used 2 cans and rather had an hour job gettin it out
than have it move around. BUT it did not move and I was HAPPY. I
would think this would work with a couple large boxes from UHaul cut
down to form around the motor then spray the foam.. Hope this helps
some of you that have fears in shipping.. :D

HEJ Jansen.

To back you up, I can tell that we use the same princip, transporting 6 meter high ceramic jars, weighing about 5 ton. A closed steelframe is placed close to the jar, both jar and frame are covered with plast, now the gap is filled with foam, frame and jar are strapped together, and both are layed on the "back" . Now it can be loaded on a truck, and shipped world wide.
the size of the jar can be seen on my site
think ahead of doing
