My wife and her family have lived all over Australia, including Kalbarri for a few years. Father in law (underground miner - hard rock) currently lives in Geraldton. Mother in law moved to Melbourne to be nearer to her daughters years ago!

Hello all

Back into the 40+'s at last! The 102 is safely stored in my offsite storage space so now space to work on these!

SJP654H5 may be finding a new home soon as I figure as I have one 40+ that works just fine, I can live without two for the time being.
Yesterday I worked on unseizing the gearbox on SJP22051 and with my newly acquired blowtorch it freed up and started turning almost immediately.
It now seems that the actual bushing(?) has slipped down and forced the pinion to rest on the collar where the prop shaft fits through.

Hi all

It's been a long time since I did any work on my first seagulls.
SJP654H5 found another home at the start of this year but I am now on the pathway to getting it back along with another SJP for my collection.

Anyway, this coming weekend, us here in West Oz have the annual Mandurah Boat Show. Our Westralian Old Outboard Club will have a display at the show with lots of old outboards for all to see. I was in a bit of a dilemma about which motors to take and then I thought why not take SJP22051, so over the past few days I've done a bit of a clean and polish so she is now in display condition.

Yesterday I attempted to tackle the cleaning of the transom bracket - I used one of Bruce's methods and left it to soak overnight. Unfortunately, I neglected to clean the bracket and re-soak every 30mins and ended up this morning with one side of each bracket looking nice and clean and the other side of each bracket black.
I retried this arvo and it worked out perfectly; after a bit more of a polish it's ready to go.

How many outboards you guys intending to take to the show? Are you planning to be manning the stand together or are you setting up a roster?

Have manned many stands over the years. Can be lots of fun, but also painful and boring particularly when the day is long and slow.

We have 18 motors on display with a number of seagulls included. Today was the setup day and I took some pics.

A roster is being used, with the day's divvied up between the six of us who can help out.

All I could do is offer the Hex Stand which is still in the front yard aye.

What is the overnight security from the people running the show?

Thanks for the kind words Bruce and Spiro. We were going to use the hex stand but at the last minute decided not to because of space restrictions.
Overnight security is provided, I don't know by which company. As a precaution we have chained all the motors to the stands and padlocked them so no-one can run away with any of them.


Even though today was only the set-up day we had many people coming in and commenting on the motors!

Hi Bob and thank you for asking.

AOMCI while being a US club is very much international.

Boyd has managed to get us, the West Australian Chapter of same registered. We are the first southern hemisphere chapter and at this stage proudly West Australian.

While our local club, Westralian Old Outboard Club is but early days things are progressing very well.

I suggest that you join AOMCI for a start. http://www.aomci.org/join-renew.htm

A Queensland or any other state down-under will have to form a local clique before going international.

Maybe you are the Queensland Guy?
