Re: General opinions - whats a seagull worth?
I have found that a usable Seagull can be bought for anything from £50 upwards, just depends on what you want and how much you want it! Then again I've seen "merchant bankers" here in Ireland asking £150-200 for real rough motors needing lots of work! The majority of people asking silly money have no idea what the motor is worth. A Marston is sought after and valuable whereas a WSC from the 1970s is cheap as chips simply because they are all over the place! Rarity decides value in my opinion. I have some non-Seagull motors which are not really rare but VERY uncommon. Evinrude Storm Boat Motor,ELTO Cub,British Anzani racers,ELTO Ruddertwin,Johnson MS39. To me,these are priceless simply because I have spent years searching for those particular models and now I have them!
Remember, dust and dirt are the enemies of all moving parts...keep your motor clean and it will repay you!

I did look at buying the Storm boat motor, and asked for advice from over the pond.
I concluded that my back was not up to it.

That is one lump of a motor, great to get it going, real piece of history.
