Paddlewheelers at Mildura

Post by Rob Ripley »

Will any 'Seagullers' be in Mildura over the weekend ? There are expected to be over 30 working Paddle Wheelers in action - the most that have been assembled in the Murray River, Australia .... Ever!
The will be at least one boat powered by a Seagull !!!

Heading up Saturday morning we are probabaly going to regret not taking Bitzan. Will try and get a
photo of the Green Bean amongst the old steamers, Weather forecast looks good over the weekend.

Hello John, about to leave Wedderburn, weather looks fine after a heavy raining night. Don't forget I have a spare seat and lifejackets.

That was the 40+. pushing against the current, tomorrow I'll change it to the 102/40+, to keep up with the other boats.

Thanks to 'Croweater' for providing much needed forward ballast. The 102/40+ really lifted the boat.

What a top day it was not possible to count the number of Paddle Wheelers there, I only saw one
vintage (classic) outboard that was Rob and his Seagulls.

Rob also had his 102/40 there, what a neat combination I was quite impressed whith its performance.
The river was flowing at 2 or 3 knots and against the current it felt like we were at hull speed at only
half throttle and we could talk to each other.

Thanks for the run Rob made my day
