Racing Gearbox

Post by Collector Inspector »

British Seagull 102 clutched gearbox. Used. A Seagull 102 clutched grease type gearbox in good condition, turns very smoothly and has been polished externally for racing. Complete with 2 blade prop.

Only 60 Quid !!!.

How wrong can they be,

This is my take on a race ready polished Seagull gearbox.

Nothing new here, common in both hemispheres. But it makes me hopeful for Christmas

I do so respect humble..................! My better guess would be "be afraid , be very much afraid".

I hear tell that the special twin carb, down under Century, will be pulling Santa's sled down Fowey way this Xmas...............

But it certainly is a cute featherweight gearbox and brand new LLS water pump housing!

H.A.!

Very nice Mate! Obviously attractive to the states, all that spit and polish eh? They like highly polished outside and put up with somewhat dodgy insides. Just my experience Mate.

Now, truly, what "Racing" grease is it set up for please?

Nice 3 blade by the way.

Bruce
I have yet to fit the grease nipples that will let me fill it up with the thickest agricultural grease that I can find. :)

I fitted oil seals to this box so I wil use thinner than 140 in it.

Done a bit more to make it more speedy.

Don’t worry Bruce it is not just shiny on the outside. Have made sure the internals are as good as possible.

I have found that the mesh of the gears needs to be correct for lowest drag, a few thou can make a big difference.

The filler plug thread is 3/4 BSF.
