A nice day up the river

Post by Keith.P »

Went up the river today with my father-in-law to try out three outboards, the Seaking run hot, so put that away, little Anzani struggled, need to put the new rings in, but the FVP ran well all day, very happy with the old girl.

Alexandre Anzani was French/Italian. So his outboards if he'd made one, whilst working in Paris in 1903 would have been fueled by Spagetti avec frogs legs.

Neal - you're biased! Try an Anzani Pilot sometime - you would be agreeably surprised. (The larger Super Single, which was supposedly a knock-off of a prewar (WW11) Sharland design, makes a good mud-anchor)
Anzani himself was just a memory by the time any outboards carried his name - they were made under the auspices of Charles Harrison (he who took racing engines to the U.S. and blew the Yankee engines' socks off) at Hampton Hill, and were produced by Boxley Engineering in Maidstone in later years. Anzani was a gifted engineer and some of his car engines found their way into interesting vehicles, such as the wonderful 1920s/30s Frazer Nash sports cars

And the Berkley T60 that I owned about 1967ish.

Looked like an E type that had shrunk in the wash.
