A funny thing happened to me today, I went to pick up a tractor tyre from a farm and got talking to the farmer, 85 years old this year, the conversation turned to engines an then to Seagulls, the farmer said he had several in the shed if I wanted them, What a shed it was, choc-a-blok with old engines, farm machinery, a couple of pre war tractors, stationary engines, a ford model T complete engine, old motor cycles with girder forks, loads of old outboards some quite large from the 50's/60's/70's and in the corner a pile of Seagull outboards and a Marston!
He told me he was the second owner of the Marston and he bought it just after the war but never got round to using it, there seems to have fairly good compression and was told that he had it running "a few years ago". The motor is complete and seems pretty original to me and fairly untouched (none of the bolts or screws are chewed and the slot head screws are still sharp)
If any one could be of help as to the originality and any info on this model as I cannot find any information on this model on the Net, the model number is, OK.552.0.123 Thank You
Oh by the way, I managed to pick up 5 Seagull outboards, a pile of spares and the Marston all for the asking price of £50, when I questioned if that was enough he replied as long as they were going to a good home, what more could I have said.
The disturbing thing was that this farmer mentioned that he had another couple of these "domed top" Seagulls "with the funny exhaust" lying around but could not remember where he had put them
