Saving Old Seagulls

I have recently purchased a little outboard called Week-end . I can't find any information except for an old French advert for a canoe and the weekend outboard was suggested as propulsion . According to the plate it was built in Paris . I hope the photos have loaded . Any info would be great , thanks

Doesn't look like anyone has heard of this little beauty, so your not going to get any quick answers.

Your going to have to do the investigation, strip the power head bare by removing the top cover, recoil starter & fuel tank, so the power head & carb are clearly visible & take some decent pictures of all sides, from your existing pics it looks like an air cooled moped power unit, the French made millions of these.

From these pics one of our members should be able to identify the manufacturer, as lots have mopeds hidden in the back of their sheds, especially the Bermudians, as a 50cc two-stroke is the largest they can own by law, I believe.

Really quite impressive castings on this, not cheap, there must be a mention somewhere on the French internet that Solex, Mobylette or even Sachs supplied power units for use on the Week end outboard, in the 50's or 60's.

Probably not useful to you I know, but to me that looks very much like a 2-stroke air-cooled lawn mower engine that has been adapted for outboard use.

Many of the early Australian outboards were made much the same way, however the level of design and quality of castings here, were generally of a lower standard ie by comparison to your outboard.

Sorry I can't help further with this.

It is a nice looking outboard none the less.

Thanks for your comments , most of the lawnmower derived motors I've seen aren't so well made , the quality of this one is quite something , better built than most new ones

It looks to me, like the transom bracket attaching mount is broken?
Do you have the transom clamps, and associated parts?
If not, you may have to custom make something.

Yes the transom bracket is missing indeed but there is a pin there to work off . I will modify a bracket to suit so I can try it on the boat as it runs very sweet in the shed
