Re: Fog Horn
I know, I was being unusually respectable.
Re: Fog Horn
I watched another video, yep, definitely more respectable.I was being unusually respectable.
I have seen them fog horns before, but I would never need one, as long as I have my missus with me.
I do have a 1923 sterling police siren, that's loud and its only 6v.

Re: Fog Horn
I reckon Oyster might remember a certain tv character from "only fools and horses" that looks a lot like Hugo.
Ucannily similar wouldn't you say

Re: Fog Horn
More info on fog horn.
It was originally designed as an air pump for either marine deep sea diving with an air hose attached to the antique brass helmet and canvas suit or for fire fighters in fireproof suit and helmet. The plaque on top suggests it was made for fire fighters with the instruction on pulling a life line ie From smoke helmet wearer:
1 pull.... more air required.
2 pulls.... more lifeline needed
3 pulls.... help me out immediately.
To the wearer:
3 pulls... come out immediately.
Probably made about 1941. WW11!
I seem to be collecting WW11 memorabilia. The horn parts seem to be an option as it is period correct and many have the horn. It is painted brass.
It was made by Siebe & Gorman an English manufacturing company. The factory was bombed in 1941 and was moved to Chessington. This one has a plaque that says it was made in London which dates it to 1941 or prior.
I wonder if they used it during the London blitz? Me Mum was in London during the war. Maybe I should give it a blast and see if she dives under the bed. She is 95. Would that be cruel?
