Steam Crane
Wow, got to see this.
Any other Sydney people about? We are a bit thin on the ground here.

A bit more marine related than a Hoe

My back yard is too small........................
I want a steam engine complete on tracks so there is no room left to complete the dream aye.
That would be "HO".....

Re: Steam Crane
What a ripper!
It's great to see it brought back to it's former glory.

Re: Steam Crane
While wandering the Sydney Harbour foreshores with my new belle yesterday I found this lovely old slipway winch. No longer in use but with a pulley the other end that was most likely belted up to a steam engine. But what excited me was the timber brake pads. Makes sense in a way as they wear out and it would be easy to knock up some new ones. The rod across the top is threaded one end and I believe would have had a handle to wind the brakes up hard and visa versa.
It is a shame watching all the old historical buildings and machinery disappear in favour of capitalistic dwellings. (loaded on second try)
Left click and then left click again to see full size. Even still has the grease pot lid on the bearing housing!

Re: Steam Crane
Nice to see that they have saved it, and not just thrown it in the scrap bin
Re: Steam Crane
Apparently the locals don't like it and believe it is a piece of junk. No appreciation for the finer details of exquisite ancient machinery.
