Unknown outboard leg

Post by Grumpy »

I picked this up recently and have been unable to unearth anything about its history.
To me it seems to be 1930's with a d4 Iron horse motor mower 2 stroke engine made 1960 to the 1980's.
Outboard marine corp of Canada made motor mowers using the d3 and d4 iron horse.
Whoever created this outboard , obviously suitable for fresh water, did quite a solid job , it goes, but i have a problem where the engine is mated to the leg.
There are threaded aluminium attachments which do not tighten up completely , due no doubt to wear.
Being say only 3 hp could i get away with using so modern glue or gunk rather that getting the attachments rethreaded?
Any advice or opinions welcomed.
Leg and gearbox in excerllent cond .
Cheers.
