Villiers carb won't fit onto a silver century block! It's too small to fit onto the mounting stub.

The older century block (that originally had a villiers carb anyway e.g CP, CPC, LLS etc.) no problem at all. These older engine types were designed to run with a villiers carb. Not entirely sure about changing the jet size. The needle, yes (for altering the fuel ratio from 10:1 to 25:1) apart from that, NO. Not really much need to mess around with the jet. The small mixture screw in the top of the throttle slide can yield some good results for a richer or leaner fuel mix.

SILVER CENTURY engine blocks nearly always have an Amal carb of some description, whether it be a 46n 2jet, or a later 400 series carb (416,418,420)
