Post by Hugz »

Should I have known about this?

https://www.facebook.com/seagullracing/

Also did you know in the 1950's there was a kids race with seagulls at Poole.

Any info CharlesP?

Now THAT looks like a laugh.

Anyone up for it?

Best look into some dates before we get ahead of ourselves.

I can almost "smell it", that smoke on the water.

Well I have to admit I had not heard of this event, nor the guys who are apparently organising it. I have of course heard of the Royal Motor - it's a club at the end of Poole Harbour close to the entrance. Think Sandbanks, where the property prices are ridiculous.

I have requested the web site mentioned on the Facebook page, and I have attempted to find that site via Google. No luck.

If I hear any more I will of course let you know.

Found this on facebook.

"Ahoy fellow Seagull revellers, the moment is now apon us and the date is Set. Saturday, 10th September, 2016 at 11am, for the inaugural jolly around Brownsea island.

All competitors will need to be registered. Please send a private message with entrant details: skipper name, crew name (minimum of 2) type of vessel and Obviously your Seagull(s) of choice, along with home berthing location.
Once all entrants have returned.. being that taking the chequered flag or rescued. There will be a bbq and prize giving.
please note, a fee of £10pp will be required and all proceeds will be going to a local Poole charity.

Safety is essential, Fun is inevitable and the history books will be written in. So get creative, start tuning and don't mix your seagull feed to early.

All entrants will receive course info and rules once registration has taken place.

Get your engines smoking and tell everyone you know who owns a Seagull or likes an iconic race to get involved.

Speak Soon,
"
