Seagull Flocking: 17th Nov Bribie Island to Donnybrook

Post by 1650bullet »

Think of it as a X-mass Meet. Arrive at The Marina boat ramp 9am on the left just B4 the bribie bridge. Will head of if or when we have everyone for the day. We will go as far as toorbul or donnybrook and we could go and have a sneak peek threw the canals at pacific harbour if we want to. Depends on what the day is like, and how many boats there are on the day. But im sure we can come up with a trip plan on the day B4 we leave the boat ramp. High tide is at 12pm on the day, but bribie isnt tidal and wont have any strong currants to contend with. Everyone is welcome, And there is a big boat ramp with lots of paking,

Hello Kean, just to get it right, Bribie is tidal with tidal currents but nothing a seagull can't deal with, the marina is the one on the left before the bridge, it is called Spinnaker sound marina, The boat ramp is really good, you turn left at the caravan park off the main road to find it, it is an all weather ramp not influenced by wind or tidal current, it has a long beach next to the ramp to pull the boat up on. it is also suitable for bigger boats.
pumicestone passage is a safe place for small boats, it can get a bit rough heading towards the bridge when a big south easterly is blowing.
The trip to donnybrook and toorbul is interesting, it is best to follow the channel markers.
There is lots of bird life and quite often dolphins and the occasional dugong.
Toorbul is a good lunch stop, it has a good beach with public toilets and a park for the kids and a really good fish and chip shop that does tasty hamburgers which is a very short walk from the beach.
The canal estate in pacific harbour is very interesting, you can see how the affluent live.
The passage is also good for the sailors as well.

Update" Looks like we should have roughly 7 to 8 boats attending so far. I have a 40-plus as a spare if anyone has a boat but needs a sea-gull outboard to use.
