Saving Old Seagulls

Probably a stupid question, but is there an "official" name for the rollers that the steering string/wires go through.(The ones in each corner) I've tried all sorts of variations of 'roller' but I can't find the ones I want. (Yours!)

Try cable pulley?

Standard pulleys will do the same job.
I was luckey and found them in a box of "junk".
If you really want something the same you may have to make them, Or have them made.

Give me a shout if you want a better photo of them.

Where did you get yours from?

Good old Ebay! Not exactly the same as yours, but I found some plastic ones that had the little fixing clamps on, which are ideal for the locations I have eyed up on my little chugger.

Got any pics of it?

What are you going to use at the steering wheel?

There it is, in all its plasticised glory! I was given a Boat Steering Wheel by an acquaintance. He had sold his Boat, then found a spare wheel still lying in his shed. It has a 'rod' fitted, that goes through the 'bulkhead' with a big knobbly thing to wrap the wires/ropes/string round, before it goes to the pulleys. Yes, I'm new to Boating as well.....

(Sorry about the size of the picture, but I have absolutely no idea how to make it smaller. You're dealing with a real numpty when it comes to computers, hence my Forum Name!)

Well, time for an update. I got it finished, then took the Grand-Kids and my Son-in-Law out for a Fishing trip. It was brilliant, BUT, we spent most of the time getting in each others way, reeling fish in, making cuppas, starting engines, and just generally falling over each other. On hearing the story of the day from the little'uns, my Wife used the immortal Chief Brody phrase "You're going to need a bigger boat!" Far be it from me to ignore her wisdom, so I put this up for sale:-



and obtained this, for a STUPID price, to replace it:-



Now the small one's gone, it's all hands to the pumps to get the big one ready for the water in time for next year's fun and games. I never realised that I had the power to motivate 2 young children and their Computer Programming Father, but they've never stopped 'getting stuck in' from the moment the Boat hit the Driveway. The young chap who bought the small one has been out twice already, and I'm trying to arrange a session where I can take photo's or even a video of it on the water. I took a video camera with me on the Fishing Trip, but the batteries were flat, hence the photo above is the only one that exists........Sorry.

The afore-mentioned Son-In-Law recommended the site, and I'm glad he did. I transferred all my Images over from Photof*ckit, and then cancelled my Account with the greedy sods forever! What I really like about it is that it's easy to use, even for computer numptys like me!

Hi Nudge, I am about to cut the transom of my 22' Murray River boat to strengthen it so I could use modern (heavier)
outboards (70's), the changed Transom will have a different height. The adjustable mount you use would mean I could
still run a Seagull on the back, Could you post some photos of it looks simple. Also the steering drum did you machine
it looks very thick for a PVC pipe, suppliers don't stock them over here now think they are frowned on now and would
like everyone to use hydraulic steering
