New boat for Seagull Sport

Post by Paris H »

Paris Mk3 out for a test on Sunday.

She's ultra rough and a bit thrown together, but she goes well enough for a first attempt.

Interesting idea, hope it go's very well for you.

Reminds me of something else. Saw it on duckworks a few years ago.
Thought it might be worth a try but never got to it.

It should be ok. We’re only really wanting the pontoons to be in the water when the boat is stationary, so I’ll trim 100mm off the bottom before our next test. At speed, the narrow hull is plenty stable enough.

Will try for another test this weekend with the reduced pontoons. She's leaning on them quite a bit underway, which I don't want. There should be enough form stability in the main hull when she's on the plane. We have some moulds coming for new pontoons next week, so that will be a big step forward.

To the casual eye she looks heavy, could lose a lot of weight in the pontoons, after all they only need to give minimal support when stationary? also the cross members look quite massive.

Wow I love the V foil. Could do with a better picture, ruled this out for the UK races because of weed causing the foil to stall.

This in the correct water conditions should fly, do you only have a front foil, plus lifting stern? cant tell from the low res image.

Idea has been about for a bit, how fast is it going?

Not allowed to plane at Lerryn, is this planing if the hull is out of the water, could say I was not planing but flying.

Very good job, but we do need more pictures.
