Skin on frame ?

Post by Horsley-Anarak »

Skin on frame

18 foot long, and weighs only 47 pounds.

Easy to lift by one person, could go well with a Seagull on the back.

Yet again RBT "be worried be very worried", this must be a displacement hull. :)

Make it a bit longer, paint it up like a Cornish Gig.

It looks like the dope you choose to stretch the "Special Paper" over the air-frame should be selected for its ability to repel .............water?

Else, really cool but maybe a fire risk.

It seems that one of these might have some potential for a Seagull powered launch with a bit of modification.

My 16-foot s-o-f two-man full-decked kayak, very solidly constructed with solid cedar stringers and 12mm marine ply ribs, with old-style canvas outer covering and a few coats of paint weighs only 28kg, compared to that modern, non-decked super-light canoe at 21.5kg.
I have no pics of it yet but when it's restored I'll post them up.
Am looking at adding Seagull power and possibly an ama for stability.
