40+ As is
Was given this about a month ago. Then had a layup my self with gall problems & two ops. Now recovered enough to have a look at the Seagull. Pulled the plug & squirted oil in plug hole & in the carby intake. Cranked over a few times & it had good spark, refitted the old plug & pu...

Re: Engine Overboard.
Personaly I would remove the flywheel & Ign system & wash in fresh water & bake in an oven on low to dry it out. The last thing you want is salt crystals under the flywheel & in the Ign system. This is how i treated a starter motor off a diesel in a yacht that was partly flooded with...

Re: Australian Seagull
None of my Wipac points have covers on them. Runing a Seagull at 4000RPM with no prop on to load it will run rich. Best to set mixture with prop on & pushing a boat. Seagulls are meant to have a load on them.

Re: Australian Seagull
Some years ago i purchased a 20Liter drum of Valvoline TRA-140 gear oil, its made for truck gearboxes & is a straight 140 gear oil. I figured 20 Liters should last me a life time.

Re: Loose bushes in crankcase
Another way a bearing could be spun in the crank case, is by running the motor on 50-1 fuel. Iwas given a century Seagull that was run on 50-1 fuel, luckily it didnt sieze but he stopped the motor when it started making squeaking noises. Didnt damage the crank, but badly wore the bushes.

Re: Salt Water Classic - South Australia 21-22 April
I was there on saturday with the Sea Rescue boat at the Pt Vincent part. We were part of the flotilla of boats that cruised from the Marina to the wharfe, then halfway out to the spit beacon & then back. The weather was flat calm untill about 1200hrs, then it started to rain & blow quite fre...

Re: CDI Module Kit
Not sure since i dont have a Seagull with a CDI, & havent seen a circuit of how one is actualy wired up. After looking at a few pictures of a Seagull CDI, It doesnt look like its suitable.

Re: CDI Module Kit
Hi Rex. Ordinary Fibreglass resin should be ok, I have been known to use Roof & gutter neutral cure silicone.
