Re: Water decals on fuel tank
I suspect this is about to get a bit arcane .... I thought Wipac 2 open flywheel models all had brass tanks, and blue tanks only came in steel with the move to electronic ignition about 1979. 25/1 presumably came when villiers first made the appropriate needle - and Bing carburetors could always run...

Re: 40FW Fuel tank stud needed
Sorry for gap in reply John was right in my case - my steel tank on an early electronic featherweight was definitely metric - M8 I think - I was replacing the studs with stainless. I had to cut one end very short - slightly longer than the length of the female thread in the bottom extra plate on the...

Water decals on fuel tank
I am refurbishing a 1969 Featherweight - has anyone out there researched the typeface and printing involved - on decal paper - of the one sold by jackie at Sheridan - with the man with a blue top and red trousers- so that i can print my own decal with 25/1 fuel etc?

Re: prop shaft end float on 1969 featherweight
Brilliant that's what I suspected - any tips on a supplier of imperial washer shims, and if I ask for 1/2 inch id and 1 inch od like the thrust washer will it actually be a clearance fit i.e. 0.5 mm larger on the id? Also presumably I need an assortment of thicknesses - they seem to come in tens ......

prop shaft end float on 1969 featherweight
I am reassembling a 1969 featherweight gear box, after renewing the rubber oil washer (40/236) I have 2 questions 1 The new workshop manual, which irritatingly does not have a publication date but has 28 service sheets and 48 pages, mentions the use of shims on the prop shaft between the crown wheel...

Re: stuck flywheel
Done it - sorted by plus gas and vice grips will put in new key
Should this just be inserted dry, like the flywheel? It looks like it was difficult because of dried grease

Re: stuck flywheel
Thanks for the the lapping point and the ball bearing point - brilliant. 2 questions 1 where should the piston be when you hit the end of the crankshaft, to minimise the results of shock through the shaft and it's attachments? 2 how do I get the woodruff key off - I thought they should be square or ...

Tightening top nut
This may sound stupid, but how do I tighten the top dome nut on top of the flywheel, when the flywheel and crankshaft keep turning?

Thank you for that – it is nice to know that one's tentative logic is along the right lines!
