its the right prop 4 blade weed cutter everything was spot on with it untill i took the piston out of the head and the cyclinder head of to clean the waterways.
what does this wafts of smoke coming out of the exhaust leg holes mean good or bad.

removed the prop everything clear no obstructions gave a couple more pulls noticed there is swirls of smoke coming from the two holes on the exhaust leg,
looks like i will have to undo everything ive done and start again.

i would like to thank you both for your invalueble information but like i say good compression good spark fresh fuel i will have to have a look under there,
there is nothing else i can think of.

i understand that it is a wipac pointless ignition but what about the timing i am getting a spark but is it at the right time.
hope i am making some sort of sense here.

managed to get a picture of one on ebay it is flywheel british seagull 40
outboard engine 1978 oem wipac pointless ignition and it does have two keyways.

had a friend give me a hand today it looks like there are two keyways one at two oclock and one at six put the nut back on the shaft and gave it a good few hits, as directed by workshop manual for removal of all flywheels no joy round the drive shaft i can see that there is a small neat circle would...

managed to get the nut off, underneath that cover, there is another with the words century102cc at 2 oclock and 40 model 64cc at 6 oclock. is it just a case of putting the nut back on the drive shaft getting someone to lift this cover and hit the nut at the same time. bearing in mind this nut has a ...

can only assume the problem is under the flywheel,took the plastic cap of the top of the rope pull nut on drive shaft inside, got a socket on it bar onto the socket.
good smack on the bar with hammer the flywheel turns what method do i use to hold the flywheel still or can i purchase a tool for this.

thanks HA. i have no means of posting pics or i certainly would it would make life a lot easier,i didnt take the flywheel of. so i cant think of anything that would have moved took the piston out of the cyclinder head still fixed to the connecting rod. didnt check compression do that tommorrow. than...

update got new piston rings from john, managed to fit them with my fingers, plenty compression now.
four pulls no start, fresh fuel, plug has correct gap 0.20 getting a good blue spark plug does get wet though :?:

managed to get the piston back out had to use a wooden drift, compressed the bottom ring with my fingers right way up for the pin, the ring must be a little bit proud of the piston as i had to give it a bit of a push to get it into the cyclinder. did,nt try the second ring as i dont wish to have to ...

getting baffled now, new cyclinder head gasket s/s head bolts new piston rings piston back in the correct way really tight fit to get it back in. put the compression tester in cant budge the flywheel at all purchased everything from john so i know the parts are tip top. like i say getting baffled no...

took the cyclinder head back off to retap the threads 5/16 bsf in and out with it no problem, noticed some dampness on the new gasket there was one or two, rivulets of water on it wiped it dry put a thin film of gasket sealer round the edge and reassembled copper grease on the four cyclinder bolts t...
