Re: Lerryn Seagull Race 2013 - Casualty Report
Casualty report . When calamity struck and the vessel capsized, fortunately the River Lerryn Yacht Squadron safety boat was in the right place and the crack team effected a skilful rescue in seconds. The casualty was rushed to shore and admitted into intensive care. Immediate life support (a squirt...

Re: Lerryn Seagull Race 2013
http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv137/NikonFM3/Whacky_zps8f666dd1.jpg Some brilliant marine engineering on display, as well as the Seagulls of course. This one was powered by a 170 which did well. We had a stately cruise around in the Longliner, the Silver Century Plus certainly did not disgrace...

Re: Lerryn Seagull Race 2013
At least one vessel capsized on the first lap when they took the turn a bit tight in the chop..

Re: Bay of plenty - aviary vacancy filled.
Incidentally I am sure the small holes for the water intake would be troublesome in some tidal condtions. I had the Silver Century in use of the Fowey a few days ago. After the big storms and big tides the river was toppers with flotsam and jetsom. Fortunately at one stage I noticed that the engine ...

Re: Bay of plenty - aviary vacancy filled.
Hi Oyster- the oldie is stamped LS on the crankcase - it could of course be a bitsa engine although it all looks to be of the same vintage to me - don't know what an FV or FVP box is - before my time of course

In praise of the British Seagull Handbook
As a lad of ten tender years with nil experience of outboard motors and not much more of small boat handling I was much in debt to the Seagull Handbook. Wonderful words of wisdom distilled into a readable work of reference and guidance. Memorised most of it and am word perfect still in the important...

Re: Bay of plenty - aviary vacancy filled.
The early bird is a Little Forty of 1954 vintage - a new variety for me. I am surprised to see that it has a round bladed prop - 4 blades like flower petals, not like a Hydrofan at all - more like the weedless varieties of much more modern Gulls. http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv137/NikonFM3/Lit...

Bay of plenty - aviary vacancy filled.
Was the only bidder on eBay for a 40+. http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv137/NikonFM3/Photo15_15A_zps446ae271.jpg Got it for the reserve price of £50. Turns out to be almost new - a 1968 bird to top up my aviary as was until now without a 40 Plus - I gave my last one away to a needy nephew. No id...

And yes for the sharp eyed, that is a tinny of Carlsberg on the transom shelf..... essential to avoid severe parchment of the gullet...

Re: "Adequately powered" Orkney
I like that wee blue boat, not an Orkney methinks - the 13 ft Orkney Spinner is not so cut away at the transom. Forget about the 15 horse though, the Gulls will be fine... Am still cruising in the Longliner... http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv137/NikonFM3/Mixtow1_zps6c5cff91.jpg I like the idea ...

Re: "Adequately powered" Orkney
http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv137/NikonFM3/Beauties_zps4cc0152c.jpg The Longliner has been a great little ship in her first season - due of course to the two beauties on the transom. Have clocked up dozens of hours of running - they have both proved to be excellent engines- start on first or...
