Re: Let the journey begin!
Great to see all that blue and warmth! I sure cringed when you ran over the end of that boat launch though.

Re: Hi - My engine started.
cracked cylinder or not resist any urge to part with that little merc. Seagulls are great but rotted 50 year old motors, no matter how cool, count for little when you just need to get the boy to the fishing grounds/campfire/sunset. Lot easier to find a spot in the bus for the merc then for a weeping...

Re: Hi - My engine started.
Best search around on here to see what the more experienced guys use on the chemical front but to start put a pair of glasses on the boy give him a selection of small screwdrivers, broken chopsticks, brass brushes, coat hanger wire...... it is a poke and scrape operation. Do not do the bulk of the w...

Re: Hi - My engine started.
Wow the seagull gods really rewarded you for some kindness you have shown the universe in the past. Admirable that you were so brave as to have tried. Maybe pull the exhaust leg off as well so you can give the block a proper clean. Great job for a small boy. Your new gasket and fresh SS head bolts a...

Re: horse power
In Short NO you cannot control the HP rating with the throttle. What motor do you currently own for that boat? That is the one you probabley need. There is alot to consider but at the end of the day Horsepower and speed make a boat a crap load safer then some poking slow lug, you do not want to be u...

Re: Hi - My engine started.
What is the horsepower rating on the dinghy? If no rating present and you know the manufacturer ask them. Or you can use the explainations and formulas on page two of the below document and guesstimate a safe rating. As you will see length and load is not enough info for anyone on here to make sugge...

Re: 102 flies again (before little problems)
The remote telltale on Buzook's setup is pretty wise. I always thought an overly complicated electrical contraption that sounded an alarm when lack of water broke a circuit would be cool.

All you need is the cable and a dab of lead. Do a search on here guys DIY them pretty easily.

Re: 102 flies again (before little problems)
I think some guys use standard bike cables. Hugz has a couple pics on here of making the lead blob on the ends. Should be pretty easy. Use the Original throttle lever on a tube that fits in a recess at the wheel so you can easily remove it with the motor. I am sure if you move ahead with it someone ...

Re: Porta-bote
I guess it comes down to what the purchaser wants in a boat. I am surprised that convential hull manufacturers do not replicate the porta boat hull lines in a solid craft if it is that good? Again my experience is with the early Aluminum version which I suspect was heavier(?) I bought it because of ...

RE screwdriver stopping method: Is shorting an ungrounded engine a no no for all engines or just some? I have a manual here for some engine or another that says never use the kill switch when running in a test tank.

Re: 102 flies again (before little problems)
What a fun little boat. Should be no problem to rig the steering and throttle to the 'captains' chair. You might consider bolting a board to the transom to raise the hieght to match the engine. Tall transoms on short boats is never a bad idea especially when refueling in a swell
