Re: A sharp intake of breath..(Way off topic)

I do not know about 'technical' but I do know about frostbite in -50 c and blisters at 2500 meters with 40 kms down slope to the truck. I would not pay that price for a pair of socks but I do own thin sil...

Yeah yeah social responsibility etc but this guy is going to know it was you who called him in and it is likley that the motor was stolen 10 years ago and has had 3 owners since. I would not balance the pressure you are recieving but...

Re: Little 40 and No Interest?

wisdom of the little forty design, with its through bolts surrounded by sea water Lack of 4 extra boring/threading operations, reduced material, ease of casting etc etc. The wisdom part was likely brilliance in so far as they were able to produce a recreational product with so little carbon steel/c...

Re: Totally gutted

H-A yes, I just noticed though that I was a bit quick on the draw and it is not an Orkney spinner but something akin to an Orkney. If it stays at 350 it would be worth looking at though maybe? Anyone that can stand listening to digital music deserves to pay thru the nose! Turn some vinyl once in a while and itunes wont seem so important to ya anymore. Typed with a 1958 pressing of B Holly turning on a British built turntable in the back ground. Cost? 50 cents. Held up well for the past 54...

Re: RTV Silicone for head gasket

Lets hope it is not a gob of sealant  Was thinking on the "inside/outside" problem and got wondering would filling the cooling galleries with melted wax letting it harden and dressing flat before applying the sealant/head eliminate the sealant in the galleries issue? The engine could...

Re: Hi - My engine started.

Wow your quick. Well worth getting the exhaust tube and copper fitting off. Rust settles there and like mentioned above it will grow into a block cracking mass. At the very least you will find the water entry severley reduced in diameter. The interior of the copper water tube is also likely reduced ...

Re: flywheel removal, how will I know

If it aint broke don't fix it. By all means drip some pentrating oil in there and let it soak for a week before whacking it again. In the mean time clean the points, adjust and get her running. You might decide to leave well enough alone until 2030 when the wipac needs replacing. Smart tip about the...
