Kerosene/paraffin/ esso varsol and a toothbrush work well, less toxic than acetone as well. Phil

I like the paint in the slot idea as well, but as most of my filler caps say 10:1 on top, it seems counterintuitive to me to paint something you are not changing.

Decided to scratch 25:1 and the change date [ie 07/08] on tank fitting bevel where the filling cap fits, try it for a while see how I like it.

Has anyone tried the product offered by Caswell of N.Y., U.S.A. ? I would be interested in hearing privately or public what the results were like.

It would seem to be a good idea to have some standardized location to note a fuel/oil ratio change, such as 1:10 converted to 25:1. It would be interesting to see where people think the best location on the motor to do that would be. As well as a tasteful, simple way of doing it that would have a go...

Is a piston, con rod and a con rod end cap from a 1977 Silver Century a direct swap into a 1955-56 AC model 102?

Is the familiar Ewarts fuel tap the standard one on mid-fifties AC model 102s? Mine had a fuel tap brass with lever-type shut off. Most of the pictures of 102s on John's site appear to have Ewarts type taps.

I'm certainly interested in hearing your welding insights as well. Not worried about number theft.

Recently aquired a 102, has a visible crack on cylinder side about 3/4 the way down. ~ 3 inches long. I would like to do the best [most solid] and long lasting repair. Would it be advisable to grind down the center line of the crack about 1/8 " wide and braze it. My plan at this point, is to is...
