H-A, isn’t it funny that some ON’s suffered corrosion on the Skeg!
Early SD’s had the same gearbox casings with the oil nipples on the starboard side but I’m not sure when they stopped being made from Birmabrite.
The screws are still available new, cheap and cheerful.

Re: Villiers Token
I’ve never been in that neck of the woods, but would love to go just to get a feel if there is any left before it’s truly all gone. I always like to understand the beginnings.

Villiers Token
I found this old 1” token which I found interesting as the link between Villiers and Marston/British Seagull had always been pretty strong considering that it was founded by John Marston and later sold to his son Charles in 1902, some of the first items made were bicycle free wheels, a picture of wh...

Re: QB series
Well I eventually found them, on closer inspection I found the Kingfisher has a 420 carb and the Osprey has a 418 even though the Manual, albeit slightly earlier states the Osprey should have a 416, I guess specs change probably due to availability and cost.

Re: QB series
Well A-H, you are probably right, but my mind is playing tricks. I try to keep notes on all the motors I have just so I know what’s what and where they came from, the problem I have is that I remember buying a Seagull 6, roller crank and all, my notes tell me so as well, KLR 6G1 in excellent conditi...

QB series
I’ve just picked up a QB Osprey and apart from the prop everything else looks identical to my Kingfisher so my question is, does anybody know the differences between the QB Osprey and the Kingfisher?
Thanks you

Re: The last Seagulls
Thanks John,
A great bit of info, and quite sad really, the demise of something that was once so great and affected so many people,
Just so interesting, I bet those photos told a story...

The last Seagulls
Hi all, I was wondering, Does anyone know what motors were in the range just before British Seagull ceased, was it the Seagull 2,3,4, the two 5’s and 6? (Aka featherweight, 40 plus, Curlew, Osprey, 5R, Kingfisher)?
It would be interesting to know

Re: What holds the crank bush in place?
If the crank is tightening on the bearing and spinning in the case the cases would need replacing or a proper engineering repair to fit/make up a new bearing and line bored/reamed. The question is why is the crank/bearing getting hot? Are you using the correct oil mix? Does the crank spin freely In ...

Well, there’s a hard to find 78cc Marston barrel repaired, I’ve never done this before as I usually source a serviceable part but I haven’t seen one of these barrels up for sale in at least the last five or six years, they fail due to rust building up over time until the outer water jacket pops, thi...
