Century seagull
One wonders how many Seagulls are not that original due to crank case change. The one in the pic is currently sporting (LLS9978) which is 1958/59 by the Nos. I purchased it in the late 60s & was well 2nd hand then, some where in that time a freind used the O/B & ran it on 40-1 mix untill it ...

Re: connecting rod shims
Hi Greg I would be trying the old shims first, there does need to be some clearance in the bearing for the oil. If its too tight it will over heat the bearing & sieze. It should be free to turn. In the pic the conrod is brand new on an old crank & too tight it should drop down easily not sta...

Re: TOHATSU aircooled
Hi Chris, it took me years to find a good Tohatsu aircooled it replaced a 6Hp evinrude on the tinny & pushes it faster. Fairly noisy being aircooled but the advantage of no water pumps (Seagulls excepted). Got sick of replacing pumps in the Evinrude.

Re: THROTTLE CABLE
To make a new throttle cable, you can use pushbike cable or what im using in the pics . This is salvaged car boot/hatch release cable & the inner is nylon coated. To cut use a cold chisel on soft iron. The parts at the end of the old cable can be unsoldered using an electric soldering iron. Re s...

TAS 2.5 (Tanaka)
My other air cooled OB a TAS 2.5. This pushes the tinny @ 5Knots just on the plane. Also have owners & a parts manual.

TOHATSU aircooled
Have a liking for air cooled outboards as well as my Seagulls. Eventualy found a brilliant 5HP Tohatsu which i use on my 12ft Tinny. It pushes this with me in it @ 12Knots. Also managed to get a copy of the workshop manual.
