hand on flywheel start

I'm almost there but not quite. Shut off once its nicely warmed up, pull flywheel to start of compression stroke, give it a quick pull hand on flywheel. It almost starts, but seems as though it wants to start in reverse. Any suggestions for finer tuning to make this work? The reason being that "...

I find if you click on reply, you are directed to log in, then it seems to work. If you log in first, then try to reply it doesn't work, and you lose your reply as it asks for a log in.

The easy way is strip the rust and paint, usually ali or black they both look ok. Expensive way is to rechrome. Some do adapt stainless tubes. I have thought of using stainless exhaust as well, but a recent experience still not resolved dealing with a brass exhaust has me thinking of sticking with a...

LLS transom clamp

Would a '62 LLS transom clamp have been supplied with heavier bronze side pieces with the three holes in the arch area or the earlier? lighter bronze pieces with the channel between the arch area of the side piece. It seems to me that this may have been a replacement. The head has studs and nuts rat...

That is amazing, the only comparable that I know of here is a 1906 Waterman serial # 11 going for the equivalent of 500 GBP. A couple of years ago, happened to be in my little village as well!
The First US production outboard, and early in the first year of production.

The Seagull literature that I have claims 5 3/4 hrs on a gallon of fuel for a 40+ MKll at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, so if you have a standard 4 pint [2.27 litre] tank about 2 hrs 15 min. The figures they show for the Silver Century are quite accurate in my experience and appear to be on the conservative ...

It may be worthwhile taking the top off of a recoil start and seeing how to adapt a battery drill to that, as it would already have the ability to disconnect itself when the motor started.

It seems to me you might want to try a prop with less bite, have you tried a 40+ prop on that combination? That may let the revs go higher than the small or large 5 blade, unless you have lots of weight to push. Then you might as well use the big 5 blade and the 4:1 reduction box. Do you have a tach...

I've been wondering about a similar setup with a featherweight gearbox, and wondering which prop to use or which to modify. Would one over rev the motor by using a featherweight prop with 2 blades removed?

crankshaft and cylinder specs

There is very little detail on internal engine specifications in the Seagull service sheets. The main crankcase bushings are to be .625 and the ring end gap .004". Other than these two, i can't seem to come up with other specs. It would be very useful to know what the main, rod journal, wrist p...
