Re: My TC 102
Thanks Charles, I will endeavour to post a picture, though I'm not sure how to do that yet. Bear with me.
My TC 102
continuing saga of my tc102 ( posts..tc102 cooling problem) After a delay of a couple of weeks, I finally got to test the engine out in the river. I have now found that when the engine is in neutral the cooling water flow is good and just warm . But when in gear the flow reduces and the engine start...

Correct piston position
Hello again. A thread that I came across ( African Imp), cautioned him to make sure the" piston was the correct way up " on reassembly. Looking at his pics, it made me realise that , although I was careful to reassemble my 102 in the same position; I had not considered the implications had...

Re: TC 102 water cooling problem
Fortyplus : FP215R.5 identified as exact date unknown. It has I think, the weedless prop. Looks like a clover leaf. Going back to the TC102 cooling; I managed to change both the cylinder base gasket and the pump flange gasket on the boat yesterday. In doing so, I found 1 of the block stud nuts to be...

Re: TC 102 water cooling problem
Yes, in fact it was amazingly clean inside. I'm going to fit all new gaskets and try again. maybe the gasket at the pump housing is allowing the water to escape sideways. Waiting for gaskets to arrive now. Will post again in a day of two.

Re: TC 102 water cooling problem
Yes, I did consider that at first, so I emptied the gearbox. It was emulsified as expected, but the oil I found in the water pump chamber was the colour that comes out of the bottom and top of the exhaust tube. Sort of black but clean if you get my meaning . I will put in a new gasket though .I suppo...

Re: TC 102 water cooling problem
Would that indicate any exhaust pressure interfering with water pumping up into the head, or just another problem?

Re: TC 102 water cooling problem
Thanks Oyster , done all as you said. Went out for a run today, but all was well for only 5 minutes. It then stopped spitting water out and overheated. On inspection at home tonight I found black oil inside the water impeller chamber. The only thing I can think of is that exhaust gases are blowing d...

Re: TC 102 water cooling problem
I should add to the last post that I removed the leg and pump housing to access the bottom of the water pipe where it attaches via a flexible pipe. Impeller and all waterways are clean and good.

Re: TC 102 water cooling problem
I backflushed the cooling system with a hose attached to feed pipe and it came out of the head top outlet as it should. ( the head was off of the crankcase ) there does not appear to be any connection between the water outlet and the exhaust. It goes around the head/barrel then straight out the fitti...
