Re: 416 carb needle

Thanks, they still keep me upright but I really wish that someone back then had invented Sunscreen...........I have a few more "Nasties" to be removed early next year. Note the hull while it hurtles through the water. Maybe rowing speed and the fountain is impressive. Hot, Oily, vibration...

Re: Seagull Compared Olympic (Warm Day)

Well, a bit of news here, This is a spare parts AB-50 Archimedes that copped some direct sunlight during the day. I have been moving Old Dears about and most of them are outside with the Gum Trees etc. Yep, it leaks as well, mind you the infrared thermo said 78 Deg C on the Bronze box.......... htt...

Re: 416 carb needle

Waterboys were, indeed, a bit Pernickerty when they aged, something to do with them being the same motor as a local Lawnmower and treated as such in a Marine environment. THAT never works! I have a few Waterboys, I will be rebuilding a very nice 6Hp version later on in 2010. They did 2Hp, 3Hp, 5Hp ...

Re: Bullbar mounted Seagull

Good Thortz! It has to be mounted on the Bonnet Mate (Just like the Classic Spare Wheel was in the 50's), That way any bits falling off can be visually tracked as they slur away from the windscreen. Small bits can be retrieved at leisure from wiper arms and blades of course. Bigger Bits you can ret...

Re: The Old Question..........SPARK PLUGS

This is "The Trick" that I mentioned earlier. Have used it to good effect in my early, smoky, Enduro_Daze when Castor Oil was the OEM pref for my 1974 250 Husqvarna (CR250 from Memory). I was 16 and I was very respectful of the absolute, BRUTAL Torque!!!!! http://i401.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: The Old Question..........SPARK PLUGS

"Personally I would prefer an extended nose plug with the electrodes well clear of the threads and well into the flow of new charge" Exactly my thought and previous as per pics Mate! Somehow, I think that this post has ended.....................? It is not really going anywhere Mates! Reg...

Re: The Old Question..........SPARK PLUGS

I should not have mentioned "Lathe". Seems to have thrown everybody out of the square. It is just a very very minor cut to get an extended TIP aligned. No one makes long reach 18mm any more. KLG ML30 and Champion 7 ComL were the only ones way back but these were for BMB (Two Years alumini...

Re: Tech advice on timing ignition (outboard but not Seagull)

If the specs call for a mm BTDC, go with that. You do not need a dial gauge. A vernier, pref digital, is all you need. Points open at what you want in mm?

Easy.

Re: 416 carb needle

Elevation above Sea Level?

Maybe?

These carbs were also used for "Land Based" transport like motorcycles etc?

Nice question by the way..........
