Please support community crowdfunding project...

Hey, all! Many of you are sailors as well as Seagull owners. Some of you may know - and have probably participated in - the ongoing debate about the 'seaworthiness' of multihull sailboats, which mostly revolves around the difficulty of self-recovery in the event of a capsize. One idea to prevent thi...

Re: Murray River - "Summit to Sea"

Rex that's all very well, but when was the last time you attended a Seagull event in the South Island???? It's a 15 hour drive for me to get to Melbourne, which is a long way to go for a one day event. Brisbane is 7 hrs and Sydney 5 hrs. That's a minimum of $100 in fuel alone, plus accomm, plus expe...

Re: Murray River - "Summit to Sea"

Don't know, Rex. Have had zero interest in the idea, so probably not.

It appears to me that there is little to no interest in "events" per se in Oz - much the same as the UK.

Am wondering why I bother....

Re: Murray River - "Summit to Sea"

Well, despite the best of intentions, it now appears that there is not enough interest in the event to sustain it, so I have reluctantly decided that it's time to pull the pin and move on to other things. Although more than 20 people evinced an interest in participating in the event, when push came ...

Re: Good Guys .

Wow, that is very low! When I went down 2 years ago the rock ledge at Cambridge pool was almost completely under water and only a stopper wave showed where it was. And the boat ramp at Rangariri was at least under water by a foot or two. Reckon it'll be a 'prop spring' battle this year...!! lol Good...

Re: Good Guys .

Yeah, couldn't go past Poncho The Chilli Dog 'guarding' the Seagull.....he's either half asleep or 'blissed out'....too cute. :) Glad you liked the mag. It's a lot of work to produce, and about 20 people contributed to this issue in various ways. Had asked charlesuk to put a post up on "The Gul...

Re: Pre war Seagull ads

Further clarification after a recent phone conversation - it doesn't matter what year the ads are from - provided they contain a Robert E Groves sketch.... So they could be in immediate post-war mazazines as well, especailly Yachting and Boating or Yacht and Motor Boat or any of those such titles......

Re: Pre war Seagull ads

The web, alas, is wrong, Hugzy....it was actually 1869 to 1948, so he was 79 when he died....

Re: Pre war Seagull ads

Groves died in 1948, after which time David Cobb did the majority of Seagull's artworks.

So pre and during war drawings will be all Groves work but they are distinguished by his elaborate signature.
