Welsh plugs on 102

One of my 102s overheats after running for half an hour, so I'm guessing it's got a bit of crud inside. Someone somewhere said that you can take the welsh plugs out and stick a rod or wire in to loosen any deposits, but have no ide if this is do-able.... Also John says there are no more NOS welsh pl...

Repairing stripped Amal carb threads

I'm sure this has been covered endlessly but can't find the threads....

One of our guys has two Amals with stripped banjo threads and has not been able to find helicoils or whatever in the correct thread in Oz.

Anyone got a solution to the 'stripped Amal banjo thread' issue?

Re: artwork by Mr.Cobb

I did stacks of research a few years ago into both of them. There's extensive biogs on both in 'The Gull' issues, which are on the main forum page as a 'sticky'. Charles David Cobb and Robert Emmanuel Groves. At the time I was in contact with the Groves family, of whom only one of his children is no...

Re: Speed control and throttles.

You'll probably find once you've used it that the lawn-mower style throttle is actually a good set-up, and means you don't actually have to hold the tiller (like a twist grip) in order to maintain momentum. So you cna stand up and grip the tiller between your knees for example, or wedge it against t...

Re: Seagull Nationals 2017 NSW Australia

Yeah, not sure what the design is, but it's way too small to be a couta boat, and is much too slender.

The builder, Kevin, is a bit internet phobic, but I'l see what I can get from him.

Re: Seagull outboard with forward/neutral/reverse

Yeah, had the same problem with my Model 75. The stainless rod corrodes itself to the gearbox housing.

I freed it up by placing it over a gas stove, then plunging it into a bucket of water. Repeat till rod is free.

Re: Complete Propeller range pictorial database

To illustrate the pitch it might make sense to use a builder's 'combination square' - the type that has a lock nut so that the return arm can be slid along it, such that if it's slid all the way to the end, it forms a 90 degree angle. Or perhaps use a larger version of the magnetic triangle welders ...

Well, at least you wouldn't have needed to worry about hitting the reef at the top end of Cambridge pool!

Man, that looks scary in the narrows below the dam.

Re: Seagull Nationals 2017 NSW Australia

Well, as cobba has posted, the 2017 Nationals have been run and 'won'. And there were no 'losers' - despite two of the boats requiring towing in the final stages due to their Seagulls impersonating steam engines! Janine Anne is indeed a beatiful boat, hand-built by owner Kevin Isles, and won the Hal...

2017 OZ Seagull Nationals - Port Macqaurie

Re: Complete Propeller range pictorial database

You'll probably need to design a standardized "jig" so that the camera is the same distance above the gauge sheet or slight differences in "apparent" dimaeter will creep in and get people running off down dead ends looking for props that are a poofteenth larger than their apparen...

Wot? Again?

If he keeps going at this rate, adding a few feet each year, he'll end up with a long, green 'Queen Mary'...!!!

Yeah, if you're not already on the Australian Seagull Owners mailing list, 'cause you'd already have heard about it..... lol

Those "ads" are basically a "fishing expedition" for new members.

Snagged three so far..!! ;)
