Re: OA 262 Gearbox
Well done very nice job. Good to see this engine is been built to use. Not another wheely bin queen. I would love to get one of these outboards for racing. I reckon some of these earlier designs have a lot of potential. Particularly the exhaust, cylinder barrel and gearbox/ exhaust housing.

Re: Parts wanted for SD seagull
I do agree Keith, there are ones out there that take the piss, but I have come across a lot more genuine people that I have helped out and have received help in return. I think if we want this hobby to grow we need to actively encourage as many people as possible to engage in our hobby. It is cheap,...

Re: Parts wanted for SD seagull
HA, Well said. Asking silly prices for parts is what will kill this hobby. The worst thing about a hobby's like this is people are all ways trying to make money out of it. If you look at the majority of owners you will see that the majority of collectors are over 60, they hoard heaps of parts etc, w...

Sand blasting does a better job of cleaning them. Cleans of all the carbon tracks.

Re: Shall we try and get to Cholsey before end of year
My comments are aimed at those within 200 miles of the event, and they seem to be the ones who are guilty by their own silence,   . My wheel bin Queens come from looking at how many seagulls are run in wheelly bins only, on YouTube. Not as many on the back of a boat where they belong...

Re: Shall we try and get to Cholsey before end of year
HA it seems to be the common thread with the English Seagull collectors all talk and no action, maybe you should organize an event where they run the engines in a row of wheely bins and stand around taking videos and talking s...t. I feel sorry for you guys that make the effort to organize an event ...

A mixture of 50/ 50 acetone and ATF (Automatic transmission oil) works very well to free up stuck parts.

Re: Leaky bottom!
What seals? No seals in seagull gearbox that I have seen. I agree the oil should emulsify. but it dose separate and then the crown wheel sits in water. just drain the emulsified oil out of your gearbox and see how long it takes might surprise you.
