Heat it hard and quench. The impact driver won't do anything if it is badly seized.

Re: Pinion bush LS motor

Actually British Seagull suggests to pull it out from the side of the water pump housing, but for me that can harm the surface of the gearbox under the water pump housing.
So I decide to leave it standing on a piece of wood and push the bush etc out.

Hope that helps a bit.

Re: Pinion bush LS motor

It was a 4:1 ratio clutched gearbox used on centuries. Why are you willing to push it in? I think it's safe to to push it this way. I push it from the prop shaft side to the water pump housing.

Re: Pinion bush LS motor

The bush together with the pinion bevel should be removed to the side of the waterpump housing. Heat it and hit it! I used a wooden rod on the pinion and hammer.

Re: Brought "IT" home, 2 questions.........

The gearbox with the reverse is prone to failure plus you have to find the correct prop because most of them come from Kingfishers. This prop will be too much for a silver century. Some centuries have this gearbox but with a smaller prop. This would be suitable for you. Otherwise a clutched (without...

Re: The best way to get back home

Thank you guys!
The drive shaft was in rather good condition. But the plater is supposed to remove with chemicals the previous layer of chrome and apply the new one. Pitting should be also removed with rotary brush as much as possible. If pitting is deep you can't avoid signs after platting.
