Re: AD 135

Hugs is correct the insert is a solid machined brass plug with thread cut to suit a ally cap. It is possible that the insert was cut from another tank then machined to fit the bayonet flange. the whole thing would then need heating to solder the plug into position. There is a bit of work in this and...

Re: AD 135

AD 135 A few notes and observations On SOS site the last engine in the period 1946/1947 was AC 694. So as the seagull years ran from Jan to Jan we can assume that all engines built prior to Serial number 694 would have been manufactured in 1946? Is this a correct assumption? AD 135 on this reading o...

Re: Yes or no ?

by sharing data we can all critique it and assess our own collections. Jeremy's and of course the SOS data is the only data that I have to go on other than a few parts lists that I have downloaded as they pop up and my own spread sheets on my engines that I keep carful records on detailing the condi...

Re: Yes or no ?

Through the war years 42 to 46 only two models were manufactured the SD and SDP then in 1946 we had no less than seven (nine if you count the discontinuation of the SD and SDP that were also produced in early 1946) separate 102 model numbers of which, by 1947, only two were continued, the AC and AD:...

Re: Marston OA gearbox

A few photos of a strip down> This box has been fully stripped and rebushed. Photos show thread orientation and tools used. To remove the pinion you will need lots of heat. the puller is attached to the shaft (note the shaft is case hardened and to hold the set screw you will need to make a small di...

Re: what not to do to your gull

Two other related no/nos from the same engine, The first is the water pump also packed with grease and the second in the crankcase boss after an attempt to remove the plate without removing the locating screw. fortunately their effort was stopped just short of totalling the crankcase and it could be...

Re: Silver Century Plus long shaft depth adjustment question

BS recommend NO but this is my solution for the Bass Strait. As you can see this corrects the shaft angle for trim and lifts the prop to the correct height. Designed to give solid vibration free support.

Re: The Early Series Forty Models. F,Fv,FVP,LS & LM

LS24747 was a complete basket case when I got it, I was just going to rip down for spares... but then she became one of my most pleasing gulls. and yes the dover grip was original as received.
