Saving Old Seagulls

Any pics of the winning vessel in it's prime? What a buzz for you, desingning and building something to whip certain folks' arses.

No hints required, just didn't realise this was a forum for speaking Dickens. Up here, as you say, we talk to cummunicate, not to indulge in a linguistic rant, losing the point of question asked.

Wullie, it sounds like the rings are solid so it will take a really good soaking in whatever you fancy, I use petrol/diesel mix. I mean a real good soak, 2 or 3 weeks. I had this problem and when they did start springing out I tried to help them along with a feeler guage (bad idea), with about 1/2&q...

As you will read in many parts of this forum, if it doesn't leak oil it's not a seagull.
It's part and parcel of owning a seagull. The oil will always find a way out especially down at the bottom of the exhaust. No gaskets or seals can stop this.

Sounds like a bit of fun is on the cards. We won't complain if one or all of you guys hit us with some pics. Sadly it was too far for us northern boys to travel. Hey guys, it's called the lake district because there's a few stretches of water. That's a project I might take on in the Spring, I'm 2/12 - 3 hours from their.

There's not many of us by what I've seen, but who knows, we might one day have enough guys to have a seagull day north of Portsmouth.

Keep us informed of your progress.

Wullie, a good soak in petrol/diesel is great for releasing stuff in these old engines. Good luck with you 40+

Looks like someone trying to earn a quick buck. As much as Ilike the thought of owning a new seagull, I prefer life. My missus would do 15 years without any fuss if I dared ask.

I've no experience but the guys are keeping right. I saw the stuff you linked which made my eyes water, they look a bit advanced for the novice builder.

Just spent a bit of time searching for free Hal Kelly hull designs, could only get pics of some of his boats. Maybe it's me but it looks like these boats have quite a bit of wood in their construction, thus meaning weight. Would you agree?
