Re: My next boat
Thanks Charles. Will take your advice. I'm certainly not going to rush this, so I'll check all options.

Re: My next boat
Have any of you guys built a Minimost? If so, what was it like with a seagull?

Re: My next boat
Sorry H-A, I'll chose my words better in future. I meant to say, make a model in cardboard. I like the look of it, but as for the perfmance epected and what reality will provide, that's an arguement I'll leave to you and Charles. I'm off to see if I can find details of the Minimost to see what Charl...

Re: My next boat
Mmmmmmmmm, interesting. H-A or any of you high tech guys, can you explain to us novices how you'd start to design this for say to work with on freeship to convert into sizes and layouts. Or would you do this off the top of your head without any drawings, just play with cardboard? Keep this thread go...

Re: intrigued
As Charles uk has put some books on the thread, go back a couple of posts and H-A has given a link for the Jennings book. It's good I think, but I'm going to get a more basic knowledge first before reading this as I'm just learning mechanics as I go along here and some of the reading is a bit above ...

Re: intrigued
Guys this thread is dynamic now, from talking about how to take an old engine and get it to run in other threads, here we are making a more indepth project. I'm now realising the ideas I had for my engines and my boat design, are nothing short of basic. I'm now going back to the drawing board. First...

Re: Aiiiiiiieeemal Help!
Have you sent a pm to Charles, he's recently posted a thread trying to offload various stuff, you might be lucky. I'm sure he or one of the other top guys might have spares lying around.

Re: intrigued
H-A, your the man! Thanks for that, it's most appreciated.
I promise you guys, I'm going to turn up at one of the events and buy you a beer. Yep, I know it's hard to believe "a Scotsman offering to buy beer", but you guys never stop amazing me with your help.

Re: intrigued
Intigued I am. Having read this thread I'm inclined to see the fun involved. Charles mentioned changing the Century, can things be done to modify a 40+? Not that I'm eperienced enough to do this yet, but it might be something for the future. Have you looked at the lochs of Scotland for a venue, ther...

Re: Stiff to pull
Thanks guys. Didn't notice the post from Charlesuk, will post the serial number tomorrow, hopefully it is something as simple as rubbing. Just built another 40+ tonight and with the basics assembled this one seems to be turning ok. Should get the carb on later this week and we'll see if it goes. Thi...

Re: Stiff to pull
Just as an after thought, can the crankshaft be straightend if it is bent, or is it a replacement required?
