Re: Fuel on magneto plate...
Thanks 4 the comment...the motor has very low hours but I might have mixed a richer batch of fuel and it seeped through the bushings. Also I revved it up for a long period and was trying out a new hotter spark plug. A perfect formula for leaks maybe? Looks like the Gull's engineers foresaw the possi...

Fuel on magneto plate...
Hello mates! While wanting to check point gap on my Silver Century 1971, I noticed quite a lot of unburned fuel on the plate under the magneto. Does this mean that the upper crankcase seal is shot and should I worry about it? The engine runs quite smooth at all rpm's and the points are dry even thou...

OMC Tuneup
Good day mates! I know there have been posts before regarding Seafoam to clean and de-carbonize the Gull's...some are for and some against. I regularly use OMC Tune-up on all my 2-strokes and have always been more than satisfied with the results; however I hesitate to use it on my Silver Century unt...

Re: lower unit hard gasket
True indeed...I should have mentioned I refered to the gasket behind the gear case filler plug and not the spacer gasket over the gear case, although I wouldn't hesitate coating both sides of this spacer to make it completely water-tight.

Re: lower unit hard gasket
I use liquid gasket from my local autopart store. It's like very thick tar, black, and water will never seep through to the gearcase. (except through the usual bearing of course) You then use a rag with petrol to wipe the exterior clean and nothing shows. By the way, we don't have kangaroo scrotum s...

Confucious used to say,"Owning a British Seagull is the highlight of life and the glue of friendship." (Crazy Glue that is! :) I'm sure Leonardo da Vinci has a sketch of a Seagull outboard hidden somewhere in a museum...only a genius could possibly conceive such a thing! When God created t...

Re: Latest Coast Trip
Nice find but is that liquid in the bottle an engine rust flusher? :D My wife had tinnitus and eventually controlled it quite well by cutting down on her sugar intake and taking capsules of Brewer's Yeast 3 times a day. The stuff is quite rich in iron and possesses all the Vitamin B complex, which t...

Thanks for the warm welcome! Actually I picked the graphic up on Google images...looked cool and downloadable for my purpose. I wish it was of higher pixels so I could use it as my desktop image...would be glad to pay for that  So today in about 2 hours, I'll be hitting the lake with an Albatr...

Re: Throttle cable reinforcer
Thanks for the tip, Chris... It only makes sense. I just wanted to keep the Gull as near to original as possible. Taking her out tomorrow for a few hours and I can't wait to hear her classic and so particular mechanical sound and smell her perfume. Might even bring a few rags in case her oil/water m...

New member here so greetings to all :) I live in Ottawa, Canada where Br. Seagulls are rarely seen or even known of except by the rare sailboat skipper in wadders. My Mom from long ago came from the Dorset region in Britain and she'd tell me about the region and its waterways. When I got my hands on...
