Re: What on earth is he doing to that brand new AC?
Wonderful pics... they contribute greatly to what bonds Seagull owners from everywhere...nostalgia and the love of a classic mechanical marvel. Would be quite interesting to eventually view a video or two of an interview with an elderly person who actually used the motor for work or play in bygone d...

Re: Water pump
Yeah...we had a Scott Atwater 7.5hp when I was young and my dad had built a light-framed 8 foot speedboat out of canvas covered with shellac. That thing could reach 30 mph and was the fastest boat on the river at that time. Also had a brass racing prop. The engine was quite reliable, and had an auto...

Re: WSPCL choke
You're quite right Hugz...just like the internal progressive burning of nitro-cellulose gunpowder inside a cartridge. The process happens in micro-seconds...fast as hell...and you don't have time to explain this to the guy receiving the bullet, and after he's hit it ain't worth it anymore! Che...

Re: WSPCL choke
Basic chemical composition: BHT - Bytelated HydroxyToluene It's sold in automotive maintenance stores everywhere and is called fuel stabilizer, and as the name says it acts on the properties of stored gasoline to sustain its freshness for up over a year depending on the brand. If you don't use this ...

Re: Water pump
Great to hear it...you can also push an aquarium tube connector inside the water outlet and have about 8 inches tubing hanging down from it (but not touching the hot exhaust of course). This really gets the water pumping due to atmospheric pressure. I used this a couple of times, but because the flo...

Then I must be experiencing Nirvana... got a brass tank with decal, a loving wife, and she also loves my Silver Century! What more could a man ask? (Oh...forgot to mention...she's scared of water and has sensitive ears). Let me re-phrase that then: Got a brass tank with decal, a loving wife, and she...

Hmmm... I hesitated before posting the sale of my wife's Tiffany lamp on this site last month. I decided not to, but now I'm having second thoughts!

Re: WSPCL choke
I use the right size nylon fishing line and push that through the jets...never anything metallic which could damage the jet passages. I learned that on this forum which probably saved me a lot of hassle regarding carburettor fuel flow. I also shoot a few puffs of air through the whole system with my...

I fully agree with Gerard...let's re-adjust for the better and then turn the page on this as soon as possible. John's noble service and this site's lenient regulations deserve our utmost respect, and we'll all be the better for it. I would personally be very disappointed if later down the road we wo...

Re: been given another one
Glad for you Mate. I was given an 1987 Evinrude 2hp which has been around forever as a standby motor, but many owners complained of its being a little finicky. Like any outboard, when fuel and electricals are as should be, they are absolutely reliable and simple to maintain. Mine runs like a watch f...

Now remove the powerhead & let us know how you get on! What happens to any salt water that collects in the gap above your sealant, does it form a battery between the brass & aluminium or does it dry up from the heat & then reliquify when it's humid causing the exhaust tube & waterpu...
