I always weld a washer first then weld a nut to the washer,
I do the same thing. too easy to melt the Alli otherwise

Water jacket cleaned out, and gearbox examined tonight, it was pumped completely full of grease! Under some pressure too, as the end cap lifted off, when the bolts were undone. Dirty horrible job getting it all out :oops: Now all cleaned out, just that broken bolt to have a look at. Good news is th...

That bronze cap should last a life time, and it saves having to put a bearing shell in it.
looks like the bush you put in the small end has a smaller hole than the original one? Or is it just a thicker bushing.

looking good! I have been having a play with F360 as well (I'm doing it for a 1/3 scale model) This is drawn up full size with the water ways silver.jpg IMG_1372.JPG The cast parts where done with wooden patterns before I got the 3d printer. Were the centres in both ends of the crankshaft there for checking the shaft or were they for centring that end of the crank with the centre on the inner face of the crank web for main bearing grinding & big end pin hole location,

Do you have a lathe? If so put the crank between centers and do the test again. it would be interesting to see the results.
