I think if the rudder blade is shaped properly there should be very little drag

I think its a great idea, I have found a mirror 16 makes a good seaworthy boat for a seagull and you can carry a lot of gear on one. I have preferred to use a boat where the steerage is by a tiller and rudder and not the seagull, it makes it more comfortable as you can get away from the noise

I don't think the bing carb is standard for that model, they were used for a short time in th 70's model,
does the gearbox turn at all as it could be siezed and that could be the problem

Had a motor bike that use to stop running after pretty much the same time, it was a single cylinder yamaha srx600, tried everything to no avail but then checked the main wire going from the magneto to the ignition, it was slightly corroded, cleaned the connection up and the bike never had that probl...

they sure do thrive on a lot of use and abuse, the trouble is they are getting old, my newest one is a 1977 silver century and the oldest was an 1948 AC, I only use the newer motors the main one being the 40+, the one with the bing carb as they are my main motors and I still do long trips 6 hours pl...
