Re: Seagull Shenanigans.
Hi Tam, picked the inflatable up while crossing the North Channel last year on the way to the Hebrides. No blue lights, the Coast Guard was not interested once I assured them there was noone in it and no bodies! Though if I had asked for a freebie in Greenock I might have got more than Blue Lights! ...

Seagull Shenanigans.
Packed up the three smaller Gulls and an inflatable and set off to catch the tide. Boat 078.jpg The inflatable was a freebie from Tams part of the world! (Not a sentence you hear very often!) The idea was to give all three gulls a good run and decide which was the more suitable for a proposed advent...

Re: Flywheel removal revisited
Have not needed to use heat on any of mine, here is my setup, this was removing the flywheel on the Century Plus. Outboard 078.jpg First a ball bearing to transfer the blow to the shaft. Then hang the engine from a beam clear of everything. Outboard 075.jpg As you can see the climbing cermantle rope...

Re: A seagull afraid of the water
As Andrew suggested it could be a problem with the crankcase seal. The 40 plus I bought this year had a badly damaged case, the previous owner had slathered fillers over the outside and used it like that. I scraped and chiselled the fillers off to see what the problem was. The engine still started a...

Re: Would you use a Seagull on this?
Actually I don’t think it would be very good with an outboard but might just get away with the Featherweight. Boat 045.jpg This is a photos of the Halfmodel which is carved to inside of plank and shows the halfbreadth of the stem keel and transom the knuckle depicts the bearding line. Boat 046.jpg A...

Would you use a Seagull on this?
What do you think will this dinghy suite a Seagull? Boat 036.jpg Featherweight on the dinghy. Boat 037.jpg Prop in line with the skeg, filler plug touching. Boat 044.jpg Using the 40 plus braked kicks it out enough to clear. 40+ and Century will physically fit. It was one of those lazy days when I s...

Re: ht connector spring bits
Hi Geoff sorry for the confusion that should have read Diameter and I was saying that the screw was in good condition and fine to use again.
So looks like you have found springs and screws for us thanks for that much appreciated.
Dave.

Re: Seagull Trial.
Don’t have a Homer Drool (Dremel Tool?) Bruce more at home with a 10" grinder! The plastic that the boat is made of cuts very cleanly and you can leave what looks like a polished finish with a plane or a chisel.

Re: Seagull Trial.
Well spotted, because the 40 clamp is quite shallow the two clamp washers come up under a ridge that is designed to stop them coming up and off. But it also tips the clamp away from the transoms. If I was to use the outboards regally I would alter the top of the transom with a chisel to allow the cl...

Re: Seagull Trial.
So last week I used the Featherweight and this week the Forty Plus. Conditions where different so it is hard to compare the two as the Featherweight could drive the dingy at hull speed, just the Forty Plus reached hull speed at lower revs. Outboard 146.jpg It was further to go up river this week to ...

Re: Oh Dear! What have I done.
So this Featherweight did not have a very good throttle cable I think it was a cable for a later leaver with two bullet nipple ends, the leaver end didn’t run smoothly and the inner was too long. Outboard 124.jpg A #10 screw is a good fit in the leaver so I drilled a hole for the new wire countersan...

Re: Seagull Trial.
Bet you didn’t damage the Walker Bay when you put it through the window! Would have been some interesting fisherman language used! Ha yes just looked up that post to see what you have now, a nice setup, see I commented on it last year when I first joined the forum. Most of the local Shellfish ends u...
